Flood Question?
Hi everyone. i live in Florida and the apartment I am renting got flooded. The flooring in the apartment is carpet. I called the landlord right away and he sent water removal services, within 2 hours they came. They put up various fans and dehumidifier. Now its been 3 days and it smells horrible and the padding in the carpet is still wet. The landlord called and said that the insurance company will take 3 weeks to decide what they will cover as far as baseboards and carpet. Question is, once the fans are out of the apt. is it safe to move back in? (mold)??

YOU TELL YOUR LAND LORD THAT IS DANGEROUS OF MOLD AND IT CAN KILL YOU OR MAKE YOU VERY SICK, IF THEY DONT FIX IT,, TAKE THEM TO COURT, ITS YOUR HEALTH THAT MATTERS, YOU CANT WAIT THAT LONG.. CALL THE HEALTH DEPT TOO AND THEY SHOULD GET ON IT FOR YOU.. OR THEY COULD GIVE YOU ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY TILL THEY GET IT FIXED. THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE NOT YOU.. GOOD LUCK.
With every breath you take, you breath in millions of mold spores. Mold spores are literally everywhere as mold is one of natures means of recycling plants and animals, especially in your yard and flower beds. Generally mold is not a danger. There are only a few types of mold that is a danger to people, and they are rare.
If the carpet is still wet, and it has a bad odor, don’t move back in. You are entitled to a clean, sanitary, and livable home. You paid rent for it, it is now owed to you. Moisture in the carpet can ruin your furniture as well as create a shock hazard for any electrical device sitting on it.
you can but avoid use of electricity and prevent possibility of fire. for another option, if you want fresh air, reside in a hotel or go to live to your relative’s house who live in US for 3 weeks.
and yes, i agree with SISSY who wrote in BOLD LETTERS!
you can stay in but avoid to use electricity
